Can you mix sizes — and even different garments — in one custom order?

Mixing sizes is free in a bulk custom order, and you can usually mix tees, hoodies and polos with the same design. What changes the price and what doesn't.

Planning reference: one clear list keeps a group order moving.

Yes on both counts. Any size mix (S through 3XL, youth included) prints at the same per-shirt price, and most groups can also mix garment types — tees for members, hoodies for coaches, polos for staff — in a single order with one shared design. Here's exactly how it works and what actually changes the price.

Mixing sizes: free, always

Bulk custom pricing is driven by total quantity × print design, not by how the quantity splits across sizes. A 50-shirt order in six sizes costs the same as 50 in one size. Two small caveats:

  • Oversize blanks (3XL–5XL) sometimes carry a $1–3 garment surcharge — that's the blank, not the printing.
  • Youth sizes are usually the same price or slightly less than adult.

If a vendor quotes you extra for "size complexity," that's a them problem, not an industry norm. How to build your size list →

Mixing garment types: allowed, with one rule

The rule that keeps a mixed order cheap: one design, applied across garments. Your class emblem on 40 tees + 10 hoodies counts as one print job on 50 pieces — you keep the bulk price band. What breaks the math is a different design per garment: that's two print jobs, priced as two smaller orders.

  • ✅ Same logo on tees + hoodies + polos → one order, one price band
  • ✅ Small variations (names, numbers, "COACH" line) → small per-piece personalization fee
  • ⚠️ Totally different artwork per garment → priced as separate orders

What a typical mixed order looks like

Color mixing: the free win nobody uses

With DTF printing, the shirt color can vary freely too — same design on navy, grey and white shirts is still one print job. Teams use this for home/away looks; families use it to color-code branches of the family tree. Just check the design has enough contrast on every color you pick (a free mockup shows you exactly this).

How minimums work on mixed orders

Minimums apply to the order total, not per garment. If the minimum is 50 pieces, 40 tees + 10 hoodies qualifies. That's the whole trick to unlocking bulk pricing for a smaller group: combine garments (or combine with another group — bachelorette parties do this with the wedding-weekend crowd). Checklist before you ask for a quote

  • One design (variations like names OK)
  • Garment split: how many tees / hoodies / polos
  • Size list per garment — or use the standard curve
  • Shirt colors per garment

Send that list — or just a rough idea of it — and you'll get a free mockup within 24 hours showing your design on every garment and color you're considering. You approve before you pay. Get a free quote →
